GE HealthCare agreed to acquire Sofie Biosciences for $945 million in cash to expand its U.S. radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution footprint. The deal is aimed at strengthening capacity for F18-labeled PET products with tight production windows and a 110-minute half-life. Sofie Biosciences operates a network of 15 U.S. contract manufacturing organization (CMO) sites and currently manufactures GE HealthCare’s Flyrcado F18 injection product. Under the agreement, Sofie will become part of GE HealthCare’s pharmaceutical diagnostics business (PDx) when the transaction closes in the first half of 2027, while Sofie’s role as an independent manufacturing partner to customers remains for its existing portfolio. GE HealthCare also said it would gain U.S. rights to FAPI-74, a pan-cancer PET radiotracer already in its pipeline outside the U.S. The company expects the acquisition to contribute to revenue growth and adjusted earnings per share in the first full year of ownership.
