Superluminal Medicines raised $60 million in an oversubscribed Series B to push its AI-powered GPCR platform and advance its lead program into first-in-human testing by the end of 2026. The company’s candidate is a selective, biased melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) agonist aimed at rare genetic obesity and hypothalamic obesity. BVF Partners led the round, with participation from Deep Track Capital and Perceptive Advisors, along with continued support from RA Capital Management, Insight Partners, NVIDIA, Catalio Capital Management, Eli Lilly, Cooley, and Gaingels. Superluminal said the financing supports a Phase I trial launch timeline. For the sector, the round adds another example of late-stage capital targeting mechanistically differentiated GPCR biology, where bias and selectivity are expected to translate into improved tolerability for chronic metabolic indications.
