cAMPfield Therapeutics launched with $180 million in a Series A to develop prifemilast, an oral PDE4 inhibitor positioned as a potential alternative to injectable biologics for inflammatory bowel disease. The program focuses on PDE4B selectivity, aiming to improve efficacy while reducing dose-limiting adverse effects linked to broader PDE4 activity. The candidate originated with vTv Therapeutics and has been licensed and expanded across Asia-Pacific markets through prior deals, with cAMPfield securing rights outside of China. The company said early studies in psoriasis supported efficacy and tolerability, citing discontinuation rates comparable with placebo. cAMPfield’s leadership team includes founders with IBD and anti-inflammatory development experience from companies including Takeda, Celgene, Bristol Myers Squibb, and AbbVie.
