Freenome closed a merger with Perceptive Capital Solutions, taking the early cancer detection specialist public through a SPAC route. The transaction brings total gross proceeds of $310 million, including about $240 million committed through a PIPE led by Perceptive Advisors and RA Capital and about $70 million from the trust account. The new Nasdaq-listed company (FRNM) is targeting FDA approval for its first colorectal cancer test, SimpleScreen CRC, and expects additional submissions and launches over the next several quarters. Freenome said it recently shared topline results for a second-generation CRC test, with stakeholder reactions focused on sensitivity characteristics. For the diagnostics market, the IPO structure signals investor appetite for blood-based screening platforms that can demonstrate assay performance and a credible regulatory pathway under increasing scrutiny on clinical utility.
