Fortrea agreed to acquire Worldwide Clinical Trials’ early phase services unit for $45 million, adding a clinical pharmacology bed network and bioanalytical capabilities to Fortrea’s portfolio. The deal includes three Texas facilities, including a 200-bed clinical pharmacology unit in San Antonio and bioanalytical labs. Fortrea said the acquisition supports its growth plan as it seeks a return to revenue and demand for more cohesive early clinical development experiences for sponsors. Worldwide will continue providing early-phase services through its wider business, while redirecting proceeds toward late-stage services and technology. The transaction expands Fortrea’s global bed capacity to 576 beds, reinforcing the CRO’s emphasis on early development and recruitment infrastructure.
