RQ Bio secured an oversubscribed $115 million Series A to advance its long-acting influenza prevention program, RQB01, into IND-enabling and then clinical development. The company, based in the UK, said the funding will support the lead asset designed to provide durable, season-long protection through a “differentiated dual mechanism” targeting conserved influenza epitopes. The financing was led by Frazier Life Sciences, with participation from EQT Life Sciences, Forbion, Monograph, Wellington Management, LifeArc Ventures, Oxford Science Enterprises, and the University of Oxford. RQ Bio also received additional backing from LifeArc’s founding involvement, and the company has described RQB01 as intended for high-risk and immunocompromised populations. The program is positioned against a landscape where existing influenza vaccines can vary in effectiveness and some patients cannot receive vaccines due to component allergies. RQ Bio said RQB01 is currently in IND-enabling studies. Beyond influenza, the company indicated it plans to extend its preventive approach to other respiratory viral diseases, using the Series A to develop a broader prophylaxis pipeline.
