ARPA-H awarded up to $125 million under its Genetic Medicines and Individualized Manufacturing for Everyone (GIVE) program to build a domestic, automated network for producing individualized, on-demand RNA-based genetic medicines. The initiative aims to support quality control testing at or near the point of care using automated platforms and embedded analytical systems. ARPA-H selected multiple teams to develop manufacturing hardware, end-to-end integrated workflows, and lot-release testing systems. Massachusetts General Hospital is set to lead a single-use, all-fluidics chip approach with continuous manufacturing and quality control; Centillion Biosciences, HDT Bio, Waterfall Scientific, and the University of Utah each received separate allocations tied to cartridge-based production systems, embedded process analytics, autonomous characterization, and same-day testing. The funding is positioned as a step toward scaling personalized RNA therapies with reduced unit costs, shifting bottlenecks from bench science to regulated manufacturing throughput and rapid release testing.
