Oxford Nanopore said Norway’s MATRIX program has begun rolling out a rapid nanopore sequencing assay for central nervous system (CNS) tumor classification across the country’s public healthcare infrastructure. The initiative is being integrated into Norway’s National Infrastructure for Precision Diagnostics (InPreD) after a Phase 1 evaluation of 50 CNS tumor samples. Oxford Nanopore reported strong agreement between nanopore-based CNS classification and established diagnostic methods. For Phase 2, the rollout begins at Oslo University Hospital, Haukeland University Hospital and St. Olavs Hospital, with plans to expand to additional sites. The program includes LIS integration, bioinformatics validation, training and diagnostic pathway support, and aligns with EU IVDR requirements. Oxford Nanopore also said it will extend collaboration toward variant detection, copy-number benchmarking, and additional multi-omics workflows including genome-wide methylation.
