The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has revived the disbanded Task Force on Safer Childhood Vaccines following pressure from a lawsuit endorsed by anti-vaccine advocacy groups. Originally created in 1986 and disbanded in 1998, the task force aims to improve vaccine safety, oversight, and reduce adverse reactions. NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya will chair the panel, which includes FDA and CDC leadership. This move comes amid ongoing tensions surrounding vaccine policies under HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has made controversial changes to existing advisory panels.
