Illumina launched the MiSeq i100 Series-CN, a locally manufactured version of its MiSeq i100 sequencer produced for China’s domestic market. The company said the instrument is functionally identical to the global MiSeq i100 while being built and assembled in China under its quality standards. Illumina’s move comes after China’s Ministry of Commerce lifted an import ban on Illumina sequencers in November 2025, though the company remains on China’s Unreliable Entities List, meaning import of “complete instruments” still requires approvals. The rollout reflects Illumina’s efforts to expand instrument access amid evolving trade controls, while keeping manufacturing localization aligned with regulatory constraints.
