ARUP Laboratories launched a public-facing dashboard tracking weekly positive results for selected infectious disease assays, aiming to provide earlier visibility into regional trends. The reference lab said the tracker will initially focus on esoteric molecular tests and will expand to additional targets and test types over time. ARUP’s medical director Ben Bradley said the project was prompted by observing surges in Bordetella pertussis test positivity in 2024 ahead of formal outbreak notifications. The dashboard reports percent changes in weekly positivity and includes a heatmap by US state. ARUP positioned the tool as a way to support clinical decision-making and improve pretest probability estimates, while also encouraging other labs to share data as a form of orthogonal validation—particularly for pathogens not always subject to notification requirements.
