Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals reported early results for ARO-MAPT, an investigational RNA interference therapy aimed at lowering tau levels by silencing a gene that drives tau expression in the central nervous system. The company said the highest dose reduced tau by an average of 73% after 105 days in healthy volunteers, with the study primarily designed to assess safety and target engagement. The read-through for the pipeline is clear: if the CNS delivery strategy consistently achieves meaningful target modulation, it could re-energize efforts targeting tau biology in Alzheimer’s beyond antibody approaches.
