Qiagen announced CE-IVD certification for its QiaStat-Dx BCID GN Plus AMR Panel for bloodstream infection testing, designed to detect 13 gram-negative pathogen targets and 18 antimicrobial resistance markers from positive blood cultures in about one hour. The panel is intended to complement Qiagen’s existing CE-IVD-certified GPF Plus AMR Panel. Both assays run on Qiagen’s PCR-based QiaStat-Dx system, aiming to accelerate treatment decisions and antimicrobial stewardship when patients present with sepsis risk. The rapid turnaround is positioned as a lever for infection-control workflows in clinical microbiology labs. The certification expands Qiagen’s diagnostic footprint in Europe’s regulated market and strengthens the company’s portfolio across gram-positive and gram-negative bloodstream pathogens. For healthcare systems, tighter AMR and pathogen detection coverage in hour-scale workflows may reduce reliance on culture-to-susceptibility timelines.
