Juno Bio raised $3.8 million and opened a CLIA-certified sequencing lab in Oakland, signaling an expansion of clinical testing capacity for its vaginal microbiome assay. The company said the assay profiles roughly 10,000 bacteria and fungi and includes detection of four sexually transmitted infections, with results intended to support women’s health decisions and pharma R&D collaborations. Juno reported it has sold more than 20,000 tests since launch and that the assay is available in 46 states, with plans to scale further. The new lab is positioned to support increased testing volume and strengthen the company’s evidence generation through larger datasets. The funding and infrastructure step reflect how microbiome diagnostics is moving from research adoption toward broader clinical delivery, with lab capacity becoming a gating item for commercialization.
