Guardant Health said Carelon Healthcare Services will cover the Guardant Shield blood test for colorectal cancer screening starting Nov. 15. The policy update targets people at average risk above age 45, expanding access via Carelon’s national medical benefit management network. Guardant estimates the change will drive totally covered lives for Shield to roughly 90 million patients, covering about 75% of eligible people for colorectal cancer screening. The move follows earlier inclusion in American Cancer Society guidelines earlier this year, and it adds momentum for blood-based CRC screening commercialization beyond initial payer pilots.
