OneOncology will embed OpenEvidence’s AI chatbot and search engine directly into clinic workflows, aiming to improve decision support for oncology practices and physician access to rapidly changing literature. The companies said OpenEvidence can generate workups, compute formulas, draft prior authorization letters, and recommend tests, alongside clinical trial and guideline support. The integration is planned to be phased: OneOncology initially deploys the tool in practice, then expects deeper connection to its genomic and clinical trial matching databases built with partners including Genentech and Foundation Medicine. OneOncology and OpenEvidence positioned the system as HIPAA compliant and contrasted it with subscription information tools. For providers, the question is whether AI can reduce friction in biomarker-driven decisions while meeting regulatory expectations around accuracy and traceability. The rollout also follows reports of OpenEvidence losing accessibility in Europe related to regulatory uncertainty around the EU AI Act.
