ABL Diagnostics agreed to buy French viral safety and bioassay services company Texcell for €2.9 million, pending transaction completion. The acquisition, cleared by a French commercial court, brings custom cell culture production, cell banking, viral safety testing, viral clearance studies, and in vivo and in vitro bioassay development into ABL’s service offering. ABL said Texcell generated about €5.4 million in 2024 revenues and operates from Genopole in Évry-Courcourcouronnes, which ABL plans to retain as the operating base. The deal includes taking on 29 employees and maintaining selected commercial contracts. The transaction follows ABL’s earlier licensing agreement for an RNA sequencing-based human papillomavirus testing technology linked to the Pasteur Institute. For CDMO and biosafety service buyers, the deal underscores ongoing consolidation in specialized viral testing capabilities supporting biopharma development and clinical manufacturing readiness.
