Bio-Techne and Refeyn launched an integrated workflow designed to improve characterization of bispecific antibodies and biosimilars. The solution links Bio-Techne’s MauriceFlex imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) fractionation with Refeyn’s TwoMP mass photometry to connect charge heterogeneity with molecular weight and aggregation. The companies said the workflow can deliver correlated charge and size variant readouts at nanogram-level sample requirements in about four hours, aiming to reduce the need for multiple separate assays during development. The move targets a persistent bottleneck in next-generation antibody development: incomplete variant characterization that can increase manufacturing risk or contribute to late-stage failure. By combining complementary orthogonal measurement modes, the workflow is positioned as an earlier decision-quality improvement tool for process development teams.
