A new AI system measures how much of the stomach lining endoscopists actually visualize and links those metrics to detection rates for early gastric cancer and precancerous lesions. In a trial across 24 centers, higher visibility scores were strongly associated with improved detection outcomes. The study reframes a quality-control question in endoscopy—from equipment performance alone to operator-visible coverage measurable in real time. The implication is operational: improving visualization may be a lever to reduce missed precancer findings. For endoscopy AI vendors and payers, the work supports reimbursement arguments centered on detection yield and workflow quality metrics rather than standalone lesion classification.
