Photocure signed an agreement to acquire Vesica Health for $30.5 million, adding AssureMDx, a urine-based molecular test, to its bladder cancer portfolio. Photocure said AssureMDx uses methylation-specific PCR and next-generation sequencing to support risk stratification in hematuria patients and to identify those at increased risk for early bladder cancer. The company tied the purchase to commercialization acceleration using its urology footprint and payor relationships, and noted performance metrics including 96% sensitivity and 99.7% negative predictive value. AssureMDx received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation in February and sits within updated clinical guidance including the American Urological Association’s recommendations. This move signals continued consolidation around noninvasive oncology diagnostics—particularly where payor coverage and guideline inclusion can determine uptake speed and scale.
