Kura Oncology spun out Caspian Therapeutics to develop menin inhibitors for diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases. Caspian will initially focus on KO-7246, a small molecule intended to support pancreatic beta-cell regeneration and increased insulin production, with separate clinical testing planned for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Caspian raised $50 million, led by BVF Partners and joined by Eli Lilly and other investors including the T1D Fund. Kura will retain roughly a 50% stake and share operational teams at the start, positioning the new company to bring dedicated expertise and capital to the metabolic program.
