BioMarin struck a deal up to $475 million to secure worldwide rights to HM15421/GC1134A, an enzyme replacement therapy candidate for Fabry disease. The program, also called LA-GLA, combines Hanmi’s long-acting drug technology with GC Biopharma’s ERT expertise, aiming to extend how long the therapeutic enzyme persists in the body. The agreement centers on a subcutaneous delivery approach, in contrast to conventional intravenous Fabry ERTs typically dosed every two weeks. BioMarin will hold worldwide rights, while GC and Hanmi retain commercialization rights in Korea and responsibility for regulatory approval efforts there. The companies are eligible for additional development and commercial milestone payments, with total milestones potentially reaching $405 million shared between the two South Korean partners, plus tiered royalties. BioMarin described the therapy as complementary to its existing Fabry portfolio, building on its earlier acquisition of Amicus. With the candidate in Phase I/II testing (NCT06858397), the transaction highlights how next-generation delivery formats remain a key differentiator in lysosomal storage disorder competition.
