An interdisciplinary team from Stanford, Princeton, Google DeepMind, and UC Berkeley introduced CRISPR-GPT, an AI system combining large language models with expert knowledge to automate design and analysis of CRISPR gene-editing experiments. Offering modes for novice to expert users, the system provides stepwise experimental guidance, troubleshooting, and detailed protocol generation. Initial tests show successful execution of gene editing tasks by undergraduates using the platform. This advancement holds promise to democratize gene editing by lowering expertise barriers and expediting experimental workflows.
