ARUP launched a public-facing infectious disease testing dashboard intended to provide near real-time signals on positivity rates across selected molecular assays. The reference lab said the dashboard—updated weekly—initially covers esoteric tests including Bordetella pertussis/parapertussis PCR, Streptococcus pneumoniae urine antigen, varicella-zoster virus PCR, and PCR panels for selected tick-borne pathogens. The company framed the tool as a way to spot regional changes earlier, including for pathogens that may not trigger formal outbreak notifications. ARUP’s medical director Ben Bradley said aggregated, deidentified results could also help clinicians interpret pretest probability and support appropriate testing and treatment decisions.
