Liquidia shares rebounded after the company settled a long-running legal dispute with United Therapeutics, ending six lawsuits spanning patent infringement, trade secret, and antitrust claims. Under the settlement, Liquidia agreed to pay $380.7 million and to remove PH-ILD as an indication from the label of its commercial treprostinil inhaled powder Yutrepia. Liquidia said it will not challenge a Delaware district court finding that it infringed United’s patent claims, and the settlement allows continued sales for pulmonary arterial hypertension. The company also noted that the FDA previously granted Fast Track designation to Yutrepia in systemic sclerosis Raynaud’s phenomenon (SSc-RP), supporting continued development beyond PH-ILD. The case highlights how IP and competition disputes can quickly reshape drug labels and commercialization strategy even when clinical development continues in parallel.
