Claris Bio raised $118 million to advance its eye drop candidate CSB-001 into pivotal trials for limbal stem cell deficiency. The biotech, spun out of Harvard corneal disease research led by Reza Dana, is targeting a rare blinding condition with no approved pharmacologic therapy. Claris previously pursued CSB-001 in neurotrophic keratitis but shifted to limbal stem cell deficiency after investigators reported signals of visual improvement in patients. With the new funding, the company plans to start a Phase 3 trial in the first half of 2027. The round underscores investor demand for late-stage-ready ophthalmology biology, particularly where clinical need is high and treatment options are limited.
