A novel closed-loop stimulation system was demonstrated to halt focal epilepsy progression by delivering real-time, precisely timed electrical pulses to epileptogenic brain regions upon detecting seizure initiation signals. Published in Nature Neuroscience, this feedback-driven approach interrupts pathological neural activity dynamically while preserving memory function, addressing key limitations of open-loop devices and pharmacotherapy. Using electrophysiological monitoring and algorithmic detection, the system achieves targeted intervention, reducing seizure frequency and neural circuit damage in drug-resistant epilepsy models.
