A new analysis argued that implementation science training should become a core capability for clinical trial workforces to improve how evidence translates into routine healthcare. The study surveyed familiarity and usage of implementation science concepts across the CRO workforce in Australia and New Zealand, reporting that 56.7% were familiar with the concepts but few had actually used them in trials. The findings suggested a training gap: despite limited hands-on use, most respondents expected implementation science to become essential, with over 80% believing competency will matter for the future clinical trial workforce. Authors pointed to embedding implementation science into trial design, recruitment strategies, sustainment, and scalability. The paper also highlighted a workforce-training approach, noting the need for tailored multi-modal programs that reflect site differences and maturity levels across trial teams—aiming to support earlier evidence translation rather than treating it as a post-trial exercise.
