Novartis discontinued its phase 2 radioligand therapy program Lutetium-NeoB (Lu-NeoB), after early clinical data did not support advancing the gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR)-targeting candidate. The company said the decision was not based on new or unexpected safety concerns and that patients in ongoing protocols would continue as planned. Lu-NeoB had been evaluated in a phase 1 setting for breast cancer and a phase 2 program in solid tumors, including combination therapy with chemotherapy. Novartis confirmed the discontinuation of all studies and said it remains committed to exploring radioligand therapies, while highlighting its current portfolio led by Pluvicto (PSMA-targeted) and Lutathera (SSTR-aimed). Management emphasized that the company’s radioligand strategy is ongoing beyond this specific candidate, including late-stage development of a PSMA program (Ac-PSMA-617) and early-stage efforts targeting DLL3, HER2, and FAP.
