Central line bloodstream infections in pediatrics remain a high-lethality threat. A four-year Iranian cohort study reported that 25.2% of hospitalized children with central venous catheters developed bloodstream infections, with 22.0% mortality among infected children and 82% of cases involving multidrug-resistant organisms.
