A large real-world study found that GLP-1 receptor agonists are associated with sharply lower heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, heart attack, and death risks among obese patients with obstructive sleep apnea. The analysis adds to growing observational evidence tying metabolic therapies to cardiovascular outcomes in high-risk subpopulations. In a separate diabetes-related clinical signal, researchers reported that serum melatonin levels are depleted in type 2 diabetes but did not distinguish patients with diabetic nephropathy, implying conventional renal markers and inflammation measures remain more informative. Taken together, the results reinforce that cardiovascular risk reduction is a key endpoint for metabolic drug positioning, while biomarker selection for kidney complications continues to be an unresolved challenge.
