Ethyreal Bio reported preclinical data for ETHY-001, a half-life-extended monoclonal antibody targeting the thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR) to prevent production of pathogenic autoantibodies in Graves’ disease. The company said the antibody fully blocked TSHR signaling in Graves’ models, and designed the approach to treat both Graves’ hyperthyroidism and thyroid eye disease. The update targets a specific immunologic mechanism of Graves, aiming to reduce the autoantibody-driven receptor activation that drives disease pathology. While still preclinical, the program highlights continued interest in longer-acting biologics directed at upstream drivers of autoimmunity. For the biotech pipeline, receptor-level blockade strategies remain a key differentiator in Graves therapy development, particularly when companies seek alternatives to existing immunosuppressive regimens and chronic dosing needs.
