Verici Dx validated a pre-transplant diagnostic test designed to predict acute kidney rejection risk before transplantation. The company’s Pre-Transplant Risk Assessment (PTRA) uses a 29-gene RNA expression immune signature measured in a patient’s bloodstream, and its validation study was published in Kidney360. The signature-based approach targets an unmet need because existing commercially used tools often assess risk after transplant using donor-derived markers like cell-free DNA. Verici said the key challenge was building a prediction model using only recipient data independent of donor and organ characteristics. Verici previously licensed the assay from Thermo Fisher Scientific, where it is marketed under the One Lambda brand, and the company positioned PTRA against other US approaches such as Insight Molecular Diagnostics’ GraftAssureDx that is designed for post-transplant assessment. The work could support earlier treatment planning and immunosuppression stratification for kidney transplant recipients.
