UC‑Davis researchers introduced Chromatin HiFi (CiFi), a protocol combining chromatin conformation capture with PacBio HiFi long reads to generate richer, long‑range chromatin interaction maps and reveal variants missed by short‑read approaches. The method produced concatenated HiFi reads offering base‑accurate, long‑range genomic context useful for paralogous gene families, haplotyping and assembly. In parallel, Pacific Biosciences partnered with DNAstack to launch a federated environment for sharing HiFi whole‑genome data across the HiFi Solves Global Consortium, enabling rare‑disease researchers to query diverse datasets without centralizing sensitive data and while maintaining regional privacy compliance. The two developments accelerate adoption of long‑read sequencing for structural and regulatory genomics and promote federated models for international data sharing in rare disease diagnosis.
