Teijin, Teijin Regenet, and Shinshu University Hospital entered a joint research agreement targeting manufacturing technologies for cell and gene therapy products, including CAR T. The collaboration aims to strengthen Japan’s manufacturing infrastructure, improve quality testing methods, and explore future automation through Shinshu’s Cell Processing Center. Teijin Regenet brings manufacturing and quality-management expertise from its CDMO business, while Shinshu University Hospital contributes clinical and R&D capabilities. The program is positioned as a practical step toward scaling efficient, consistent cell-therapy production—particularly relevant in markets facing workforce and capacity constraints. For the industry, such collaborations matter because scaling CAR T and other advanced therapies increasingly depends on process robustness, automation, and quality control maturity—capabilities that can determine time-to-clinic and time-to-commercial supply.
