Cellares signed its first Asian development collaboration with Taiwanese company GenomeFrontier Therapeutics to evaluate automated manufacturing for GF-CART01 using Cellares’s Cell Shuttle platform. The program will assess translating GenomeFrontier’s virus-free CAR T manufacturing process onto the Cell Shuttle, with emphasis on transfection unit operations and Cellares’s integrated electroporator. GenomeFrontier is developing GF-CART01 for multiple B-cell malignancies, and the company is recruiting for a U.S. Phase I trial. The collaboration is framed as a way to improve scalability and manufacturing reliability as autologous CAR T processes remain labor-intensive and variable. By focusing on automated unit operations, Cellares aims to reduce hands-on variability and support consistent production across clinical development and potential scale-up. The partnership also signals how CDMOs are broadening capacity and automation offerings to support next-generation cell therapy pipelines, particularly in regions where manufacturing and clinical expansion are accelerating.
