Novartis’ pelacarsen failed in the Phase 3 HORIZON trial, missing the primary goal of reducing cardiovascular death or major events such as heart attack or stroke in patients compared with placebo. The setback follows earlier findings that pelacarsen lowered Lp(a), a lipid-linked cardiovascular risk factor, but did not translate into improved clinical outcomes in the pivotal study.
