Teijin, Teijin Regenet, and Shinshu University Hospital have entered a joint research agreement aimed at advancing cell and gene therapy manufacturing technologies in Japan. The collaboration targets automation and efficiency improvements and is designed to strengthen the country’s manufacturing infrastructure for CAR T-cell therapies. Shinshu University Hospital will contribute CAR T R&D and clinical application expertise through its Cell Processing Center, while Teijin Regenet provides manufacturing and quality-management know-how from its CDMO operations. The partners said the work will also build practical knowledge around quality testing technologies and quality-control methodologies, reflecting a continued focus on scalable compliance rather than only process development. For sponsors and patients, expanded regional manufacturing capability can reduce bottlenecks in supply and improve time-to-treatment, particularly as CAR T demand grows.
