Ohio State investigators reported early results for a newly engineered CAR T-cell approach targeting three B-cell proteins and incorporating OX40 co-stimulation. In a phase I setting for relapsed B-cell blood cancers, the program used a rapid manufacturing process—described as six days—with fresh infusions. The report highlighted remissions alongside a relatively contained side-effect profile in the early readout, supporting the concept that faster manufacturing and poly-antigen targeting may help improve feasibility for patients with aggressive disease. The findings matter for the CAR T ecosystem because they address two operational bottlenecks at once: manufacturing lead time and antigen escape risk through multi-target design.
