Roche signed an exclusive global licensing agreement with Simcere Zaiming Pharmaceutical for SIM-0660, a preclinical trispecific T-cell engager targeting CD79a, CD19 and CD3. Under the deal, Simcere could receive up to $1.53 billion in payments, including a $75 million upfront fee and additional development, regulatory and commercial milestones. The molecule is built on Simcere’s proprietary TCE platform and is designed to drive T-cell-mediated killing of B-cell targets while limiting cytokine-release toxicity—a recurring safety challenge for earlier engager formats. Roche’s move adds to its effort to fill gaps in B-cell disease franchises and compete across next-generation immunotherapies. The agreement also highlights the growing willingness of large pharma to underwrite preclinical immune-oncology bets with milestone-heavy structures, reflecting both the speed of platform validation and the competitive pressure for pipeline differentiation.
