Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences and partners have published the first high-quality Arab human pangenome constructed using PacBio's HiFi long-read sequencing. The resource, built from 53 individuals across eight Arab countries, unveiled over 111 million base pairs of previously unsequenced DNA and 9.2 million unique genetic variants. This landmark reference addresses underrepresentation of Arab genomes in research and offers new insights for precision medicine, rare disease diagnosis, and population genetics within this diverse demographic.
