Bristol Myers Squibb said it will build a supercomputer system with Nvidia intended to become the “most powerful” AI infrastructure in life sciences, deepening the companies’ R&D partnership. The plan expands BMS’ use of Nvidia DGX SuperPOD infrastructure deployed over a three-year collaboration. BMS will use a single-owned configuration powered by AIDGX Vera Rubin NVL72 systems, positioning the build as energy-efficient and aimed at supporting pipeline discovery and operations. The company framed the investment as part of a hybrid-intelligence approach that couples AI with human scientific judgment. BMS said it has already used the platform to support multiple disease areas and that the expanded infrastructure is meant to increase the probability that each program is the right one. The announcement also referenced other pharma AI efforts using Nvidia systems and collaborations. The move highlights how Big Pharma continues shifting capital from standalone AI pilots toward large-scale compute infrastructure intended to industrialize model development and scientific workflows.
