A new BIO/CSBA/TEConomy 2026 report described a sprawling US biotech ecosystem, citing $3.19 trillion in total economic output and employment for 2.31 million workers. The report also highlighted that biomanufacturing employment grew nearly 16% from 2021 to 2025, and noted geographic expansion of clinical trial capacity across more states. While the document flagged that post-pandemic employment growth has plateaued, it still positions biotech as a durable job engine with expanding operational footprints beyond legacy hubs. For operators and investors, workforce and biomanufacturing capacity remain central for scaling pipelines and executing clinical and CGT manufacturing plans.
