DeepMind-linked spinout Isomorphic Labs raised $2.1 billion in a Series B funding round, one of the largest private biotech rounds on record. The round was led by Thrive Capital, with participation from Alphabet. The company said it will scale the Isomorphic Labs Drug Design Engine (IsoDDE), introduced in February, to accelerate AI-powered discovery. IsoDDE was reported to surpass prior Isomorphic/AlphaFold-family benchmarks across tasks including binding affinity estimation and ligand-pocket identification. The financing underscores how capital markets are concentrating around AI drug design infrastructure—especially protein–ligand modeling and induced pocket prediction—which is increasingly central to how early-stage pipeline bets are made.
