cAMPfield Therapeutics launched with a $180 million Series A to develop prifemilast, an oral PDE4B-selective inhibitor positioned as a potential alternative to biologics in inflammatory bowel disease. The program traces to vTv Therapeutics, which licensed prifemilast in 2018 to Newsoara Biopharma for China, South Korea, and parts of Southeast Asia, before expanding rights; cAMPfield said it secured rights outside of China for global development. cAMPfield’s differentiation centers on PDE4B selectivity intended to reduce dose-limiting adverse effects seen with broader PDE4 inhibition, and the company named several experienced founders from Takeda, Celgene/BMS, and AbbVie in IBD development and commercialization.
