A retrospective single-center analysis in BMC Gastroenterology evaluated transjugular liver biopsy in patients with hematologic neoplasms and suspected liver involvement, reporting an adequate diagnostic sample rate in 97% of 93 patients. Histology identified infiltration by the primary malignancy in 33 patients and toxic injury in 13, with other diagnoses including graft-versus-host disease and amyloid deposition. Safety outcomes included one procedure-related death (1.08%) and low rates of hemothorax (2.15%), supporting transjugular biopsy as a practical diagnostic option when percutaneous biopsy is contraindicated in high-risk blood cancer patients.
