Vertex Pharmaceuticals announced a $10 billion cash acquisition of Crinetics Pharmaceuticals, its biggest-ever deal, designed to extend Vertex beyond cystic fibrosis into a broader endocrinology franchise. The transaction, valued at about $10B, combines Crinetics’ FDA-approved acromegaly therapy Palsonify (paltusotine) with later-stage endocrine assets including a Phase III program in congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). Vertex also said the portfolio could drive more than $5 billion in peak sales potential, with unanimous board approval and a planned close in the third quarter of 2026. The companies also highlighted rapid commercial uptake for Palsonify, including early patient and provider adoption. Crinetics investors reacted strongly to the announced price, while Vertex signaled the deal as a strategic fit—using Vertex’s commercial infrastructure to scale a specialty-market platform built around endocrine biology.
