Agios Pharmaceuticals agreed to a potential $665 million deal that shifts focus onto cancer therapy resistance after gaining global rights to Oscotec’s cevidoplenib, described as a phase III-ready oral SYK inhibitor for immune thrombocytopenia. Oscotec framed the new chapter as tied to its resistance biology strategy. Separately, Photocure signed an agreement to acquire Vesica Health for $30.5 million to add AssureMDx, a urine-based molecular test for early bladder cancer detection, into its portfolio. The transaction includes a milestone component tied to Medicare reimbursement and positions Photocure to expand into hematuria evaluation. These deals highlight continued emphasis on (1) monetizing late-stage or indication-ready small molecules through licensing and (2) buying diagnostics revenue streams that align with guideline inclusion, payer pathways and commercialization scale.
