Maryland awarded more than $520,000 to fire departments to deploy a multi-cancer early detection (MCED) screening program using 20/20 BioLabs’ OneTest blood assay. The funding will support testing for more than 1,400 firefighters through the state’s Professional and Volunteer Firefighter Innovative Cancer Screening Technologies Grant Program. The initiative uses a OneTest platform that combines measurements of established protein tumor markers with machine-learning-based algorithms and is intended to generate real-world evidence ahead of potential U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services coverage discussions. The company said it is also seeking CMS coverage for OneTest for Cancer and plans to expand evidence via additional real-world cohorts. For diagnostic developers, the program provides a near-term pathway for scaling assay deployment in a defined high-risk cohort while supporting regulator conversations around clinical utility and reimbursement.
