A series of groundbreaking investigations are deepening the understanding of Parkinson’s disease pathology and treatment. Research includes the modulation of brain networks through different transcranial magnetic stimulation protocols; inhibition of LRRK2 kinase restoring neuroprotective pathways in genetic mouse models; the identification of gut metabolites enriched in PD patients with REM sleep disorder; and digital speech biomarkers tracking levodopa effects. These studies collectively enhance mechanistic insights and propose novel diagnostics and therapeutic avenues for Parkinson’s, underscoring the disease’s complexity beyond motor symptoms.
